175 | Restore Collective Q+A: Who We Are, What We Believe and How to Join Us
===
[00:00:00] Hey friends. Welcome back to the Call to Lead podcast. I'm excited to dive into a new series where I'm going to be answering all your questions about Restore Collective. So whether you are a brand new partner or advocate, or you're considering linking arms with us as we get started with our soon to come public launch with this brand new company, or maybe you're looking for a resource to share with people.
Who might be asking you these questions. I'm gonna break down the next three episodes in our three pillars. The first being people, the second being product, and the third being profit.
And so today's episode is gonna be breaking down that first pillar, the people, which is honestly the most important part of this business because you see each of these pillars builds upon each other. And by partnering and linking arms with amazing people, probably like even you listening, we can develop amazing products and systems and tools and resources [00:01:00] together.
That can then help build a profit, not just for us, of course, as restore collective corporate, which will allow us to give back and,~ uh, you know,~ accomplish our mission, vision, and values. But it also, and most importantly, will help you build a business based on profitability. So we're gonna answer today's questions all about the people behind Restore.
So let's dive into today's episode.
Okay, so if this is the first episode that you have heard of mine, ~uh,~ this is gonna be a great opportunity for us to answer the first question, which is, who are we and why did we decide to start this new company? Because it's a bit of an assumption that you've been maybe listening to the other 174 episodes of this podcast, and that you have maybe heard about my journey, both as a network marketing leader, but also as an entrepreneur for.
More than half my life. And essentially I figured this would be a great spot to just share a little bit of my story and how I'm partnering with my husband [00:02:00] Roger, on starting this company together. So the first question we're gonna answer is, who are we and~ why did we start,~ why did we decide to start Restore Collective?
So if we haven't met, I'm Heather and my husband Roger, and I did an entire episode sharing our story and even our testimony. So I'll link to that episode if you want. The long story short of who we are. But short story short, actually, this is something that you can and should do in your business as well.
I can kind of give you my little elevator pitch, if you will, of what my life was like before this business, how it's transformed my life and what it has brought me to today. So I like to say I'm a believer and recovering achiever. I've been that way my whole life, though. I did not give my life to Christ until my twenties.
But my husband ~and I,~ Roger,~ uh, ~and I met in college when I was pursuing a degree in fashion merchandising. And I had one dream, one ambition, and he did as well. And mine was to move to New York and, ~uh,~ work in PR [00:03:00] or marketing for a makeup company up in New York. And Roger wanted to be a fishing guide in Florida.
And so we always like to joke that God had much better plans than we could ever imagine, and it did take more than 20 years to come to where we are now in fulfilling those dreams and passions that I've honestly had since I was a little girl. So I've loved fashion, loved beauty, but I didn't fall in love with the network marketing space until I was knee deep as an entrepreneur about, gosh, more than a dozen years into owning a boutique in Savannah.
Where I was paying myself last. And so I joined my first network marketing company with a goal of making just a couple thousand dollars, ~uh,~ a month to supplement my family's income, which I've since learned is actually a pretty dang big goal in network marketing. And even though I was not able to achieve that in that particular company. It did set the foundation from the get go and helped me to kind of fall in love with the business model, even if that first company was not the right fit for me. So fast forward to a product that I was using and loving and [00:04:00] sharing that decided to go into the direct sales space and I could not be more excited because I knew this business model was a great opportunity for me to kind of work as hard as I wanted to, and I knew that it would be focused on sharing.
My love for the product and for that company. So I was with that company for eight years and I loved every second. I am still so grateful for every minute that I had with, ~uh,~ with that company until they decided to change the direction of their business model and go more with the affiliate style model and kind of more empowering online influencers, which if you haven't heard my podcast, you know I am.
Big on creating connections and conversations and leveraging simple systems and automations to build your business. And I choose to do that and have chosen to do that outside of social media for quite some time. So that was just a different ~and align, uh, an~ alignment with, ~um,~ the future vision for that company, which kind of led me to a, a starting point of.
If not that, [00:05:00] then now what? Right. Like what am I gonna do? And so, whereas there were so many great opportunities to join other companies and be a part of some really, really cool, um, opportunities. 'cause I'm a believer that any, any network marketing company where you love the product, you love the mission and you love the people.
That you can have success in it. Absolutely you can. And while I knew that there were companies out there that were perfect fit for my upline or my sidelines or some of my downline even, ~um,~ in that company, I also knew that those weren't the right fit for me in that season. And I, I couldn't quite understand why.
And so I'm so glad that I took some time to really thoughtfully ~p ~pause and pray through our next steps. And it was actually my husband, Roger that kind of said, why don't we just. Do our own thing. We both have experience as entrepreneurs. He owned his own business for, ~uh,~ over 10 years. And of course I had at this point, gosh, like two decades of.
Owning my [00:06:00] own business. 'cause if you are a network marketer, you are also a business owner. But I owned a traditional retail business as well. And so we kind of felt like we were uniquely positioned to take our heart for business, mix it with our love for direct sales, and really do something special. And so that's essentially what we've, we've done.
And of course there's a lot more to it. And again, we've kind of shared our journey all along the way, but ultimately that's who we are. ~We, um, always, you know,~ we are such big believers that the Lord has absolutely transformed our life and marriage through our church and through seeking him together. And that has just worked wonders in our marriage and in our life, and definitely in our business.
And so we wanted to bring that here and we wanted to set that foundation for what it looks like to work together as a family. Even if. Like Roger, he's not necessarily the one who's gonna be sharing the makeup and skincare and all the other goodies that we have to offer ~when we,~ which next week is gonna be all about the~ profit or ~product.
So stay tuned for that. But, uh, but truly it's, it's [00:07:00] really more about working together and bringing all of us the strengths, the weaknesses, our experiences, the ups and the downs to really have a goal to be able to serve those who are joining us, which ~is you. And so, or~ might be you. ~So I, uh, that's a little bit about who we are and why we decided to start this journey together.~
So that's a little bit about who we are and why we decided to start this. But enough talking about me. Let's talk about you and who this business is created for and whether or not that might be you listening. And so ~we, I,~ we love to, ~um, ~actually share one of our core values around this, which is who not how.
And so you might be kind of thinking like, well, how. Did you do this? Or how does one go about starting their own direct sales business? And truly, this entire journey has been all about the who's it's been, the people who, again, maybe even you listening or our founding partner mentors, which we'll talk about in a second.
But truly it's been the people that the Lord has put in our life that have helped us to build and grow this company together. And so you might be wondering like, who is this made [00:08:00] for and is this right for me? And so truly this business was made for, ~um,~ really. Several different types of people. And so we have three paths for people to choose if they wanna be a part of Restore Collective.
So the first path is a customer, and that's someone who's really looking to simplify their everyday routines. So our mission is we are committed to simplifying the lives of active families for the better. And what we mean by that is we wanna create curated systems or edits as we call them, for each of the different facets of your busy life.
And so when we look at the today's active family, you know it, you've got a mom a lot of times a dad, sometimes it might be a divorced, single parent situation, but you've got a couple kids running around, maybe even up to four or more kids running around, and you're dashing them from school sports and trying to get dinner on the table.
And especially as a busy mom, you want to look and feel [00:09:00] beautiful, and you want safe and effective routines in your life. But you don't always have a lot of time to be able to do it, and you want it to be simple, and it's safe enough even for your kids when they start to get to that age. And they wanna use it too, to be able to leverage themselves.
And so that's ultimately what we're here for. We wanna create simple. Smart, sustainable, safe and seasonal solutions with all of our products as we'll talk about next week. ~And so,~ but essentially the who is really kind of hot mess moms and dads. So that's our who from a customer perspective. And then from the business side, we are here to serve two different, well, really several different types of people, but from the business side, first of all. Not everybody is going to want to start a business in network marketing. I think that is a misconception that every single customer can and should do the business side. 'cause I can promise you I have great friends, family that this is not the right fit for and that's okay. But for someone who is entrepreneurial minded, who has a servant heart, or who's [00:10:00] gifted in content creation and just sharing online and sharing the things that they love and, and learning and living out loud in that space.
We created both the Advocate program, which is more an affiliate style, no team building required opportunity to share your link and make some money much more than you'd make on Amazon or like to know it. So up to 25% commission just for sharing the products that you love and how they've changed your life.
We also have the partner program, so for me, of course, for someone who is passionate about leadership and serving. And not just building a business for yourself, but helping others build a business as well. That's the heart of our partner program. And so not only can you earn up to 35% commissions from sharing the products, you can also earn level bonuses based on your team.
And we say we like to flip the pyramid structure bottom up, and we have a rooted ground up approach to this to where, ~uh, you know,~ when you are [00:11:00] in alignment with our, our mission vision values, you love the products. You can build and grow a team or the branches as we call them, of your team, and focus on lifting them up and in turn lifting up their customers as well.
And so the partner program and advocate program, it's really a hybrid model that's designed to meet people right where they are with a no pressure approach to building their business however they want to do it. And so I think that's one of the things that really makes us special is we truly are. For anyone who wants to simplify their lives ~and,~ and business beauty, all of the everyday routines, ~um,~ that even down the road we can expand into.
But ultimately you have choices and you have the freedom to choose which is right for you. And you should give the same to your friends, your family, to your potential partners, customers, and advocates as well. And so that's who this is for. So one of the other things that really sets us apart, and this is a question that we get, is.
Who can I buy from? Can I buy [00:12:00] directly from corporate or I'll, like, I had a friend text me this morning. She says, can I buy makeup from you right now? And I was like, well, you can't actually buy it from me, but you can find one of our partners or advocates, because guess what? We are not gonna be taking any orders direct to corporate or any enrollments direct to corporate.
So we actually have our system set up that even in this soft launch season where we are taking pre-orders, we've had only even a. Few handfuls of hiccups to where an order will accidentally go to to our corporate account, but when it does we'll, we'll move it right out and we catch all of them because it's not our intention to build a business for ourselves.
It's truly our intention to pour into those in the direct sales space to be able to help you build a business of your own. And so you can't buy directly from me, but you can find one of the partners and advocates. Who have linked to arms with one of our 10 founding partner mentors, and they are some handpicked, hand-selected ~app~ application, ~um, ~edited, if you will, people that are absolutely in alignment with all of [00:13:00] our core values.
They all have strong, yet different and diverse leadership styles that are designed to meet you right where you are. And so you can stalk around on Restore Collective or Instagram if you want. ~Um,~ you can probably search ~the,~ the hashtag for that. You can also listen into the podcast episodes where I've interviewed each one of our founding partner mentors directly here.
You can also go to the Who We Are page on our website, restore collective.co, and you'll see a link to the founding partner mentors there. But you don't have to join with one of them. You can join with anyone who is a partner or an advocate somewhere in the Restore family. And so I think that's one of the cool things that sets us apart is we are truly about empowering other people to build a business, ~um, ~with Restore.
So when you do decide to join Restore Collective, you might be wondering what the community's like and what the training and the systems to empower the people who link arms with us looks like. And so we like to say we at [00:14:00] corporate are here to build the systems and to make things really clear and easy and simple for you to get started in your business.
And then we love for our branches to be able to create that community and culture. Now we all come together once a month for a family call, which is where we kind of spotlight some really exciting things. We do trainings, and so we do have, of course, the big family culture. We do have an event that's happening this summer called Welcome Home, where it is our launch and learning event where if you, whether you're a partner, advocate, whoever, somebody wanted to celebrate with us, you are welcome to attend.
~Um, ~and you can go to restore collective.co/welcome home if you want all the scoop on that. But essentially it's our way of equipping ~our,~ our people, right, with the foundational principles around our people. The products that we offer in trainings, we're gonna be doing like a beauty lab experience with everybody there.
It's gonna be exciting, which is a really cool, systemized way to share this business. And [00:15:00] then we're also gonna be sharing directly how to build a business with Restore. So it's gonna be really hands-on spouses. ~Um,~ if you're married, our welcome partners or caretakers. If you've got somebody that you know, maybe it's your mom or grandma that wanna come and help watch your kids.
We even have childcare, which is really exciting. And so come join us for that because that is definitely gonna be a great community culture builder. And of course we'll be having many more, ~uh, ~opportunities just like that. But our branches are just really, really special ~because they are,~ because we take on the system side of it.
Our leaders aren't. Whether that's you joining as you know, a partner and you want to build a big team, we wanna take that pressure of you having to build the systems yourself. And allow you to just step into the family and step into the community together. So I have to say our community is pretty dang special, and we do additional training calls throughout the month as well.
We have a learn more about the family. That's the first Tuesday of every month. And so that one actually is going to be coming up [00:16:00] this coming Tuesday. ~Uh,~ and so actually I'll link to that.~ If, if, uh, you know,~ if you're listening to this in time, this will go up on a Friday. And so the next Tuesday is our join the Family and learn more about the family call.
Which will be ~next, uh,~ next Tuesday, the first Tuesday of each month. And so, ~um,~ that is another culture builder opportunity. Last night we actually had the, the pleasure of Bob Heilig being able to hop on and train for our community and our field, and it was really, really, really special. And so we'll have many more things like that.
So the community is pretty awesome. The culture, I think is unmatched and truly that is a testament to the people that we have a part of this.
So the last question I am gonna tackle in this week's episode is, do you have to be a Christian to buy or join, restore? And the answer is absolutely not. So we would consider ourselves a faith forward company just like Chick-fil-A or Hobby Lobby, or there's a ton of other, ~uh, you know,~ companies out there, and it's not coming from the perspective of telling you what you should [00:17:00] believe.
But it's more coming from the place of the foundational purpose for what we truly feel called to do, which is to be a light, to point back to the source of all of it. Whether it's any great idea that we have all the people that have been put into our path so far, we truly believe that all of it is a gift and a blessing from our God, from the Lord, and through the grace of him sending his son to be our savior, despite.
All of our shortcomings, despite all of the things that we're gonna get wrong, both in the past, the present, and in the future. So I always like to say, don't put your faith in me. You don't have to put your faith in the Lord, but good grief, don't put your faith in me. But I can promise you if you do put your faith in the God who is bigger than all of your problems, who has a plan far beyond anything that we could imagine.
He will show up in a way that will change your life. And so that's been mine and Roger's [00:18:00] experience. And because of that, we kind of can't come at this business or our story or the reasons why we're creating this with anything other than pointing it all back to him. And so that does not mean that you have to believe the same things that we do, and we welcome.
The freedom for all of the things that you might believe. And so no, you do not have to be a Christian or a certain denomination. We attend a non-denominational church, so we just believe you know what the Bible says is that, you know, if you believe that Jesus is the Christ, meaning he was the Savior that God sent, and we all are in a deep need of that savior, then we're in the same.
Same position. And if you don't believe that, that's okay too. You can still listen in and learn in, and we will, of course, on our website in the Who We Are page, or if you listen to this podcast or if you, you know, dig deep enough on our, our social media channels, you're gonna feel that this number one [00:19:00] is a little bit different and our faith is one of the reasons why it is different, and we are pretty unapologetic about that.
But it doesn't mean that you have to be that same way either. We like to say that you can focus. On sharing what excites you the most about Restore And for you, that might be that we are faith forward and that's awesome, but if it's not and you just really love the products, share away, there's no pressure to get on board or get in alignment with what we believe from a religious perspective.
But because,~ uh,~ we've seen the direct impact of. Again, attributing all the good stuff to him and any of the stuff that's not so good to the sinful nature in each one of us, and that my friends is, is truly just who we are. And so I hope that that answers the question that no, you do not have to be a Christian to buy or sell or share, restore.
And while, especially in this foundational period of soft launch, we have been very bold in saying things like that [00:20:00] Jesus is our CEO, meaning we feel like he hired us to do this job and we're just doing the best we can to be able to follow his will and his direction and the guidance that is laid out in his example and in his word.
~Uh,~ but again, you do not have to do that. ~Um. ~If you don't want to, but we hope that you do. We hope that you follow along our journey and that you can see that things are a little bit different and that is why. So I hope that these answer your questions more about the people side of Restore Collective and who we are, who we feel called to serve through this company, and whether or not that's right for you or the person that you're sharing this with.
And so thank you for being a part of our journey either way. We are grateful for you, and I'm gonna wrap us up in a prayer. Lord, thank you so much for just the opportunity to be able to chase after you and to be able to link arms with people even if they aren't following after you. We know that they're here for a purpose and a reason, and if [00:21:00] they've made it far into this episode, they feel it too.
And so just help us to be a light, to love them and serve them and meet them right where they are. And, uh, just thank you for the blessing of the people that you've put in our path so far. Whether that was in the foundational partners of building the business and the, the brand and the products and everything up to this point, or to the partners and advocates who truly are trusting us and investing in building a business here with us or considering it.
So just guide the hearts and give discernment and wisdom. As we know from your word that you promise us you will do that. And so just give that direction and guidance to those that are listening and to us as well. And thank you again for the blessing of this business and all that you've given us so far in Jesus name.
Amen. Alright, friends, thank you so much for listening and stay tuned for more questions answered on next week's episode. Bye.
