142 | Restore Collective Core Value: Transparency
===
[00:00:00] Hey friends. Welcome back to the Called to Lead podcast. So I am so excited to continue the series of rolling out the 12 core values of our brand new company Restore Collective. So if you're behind a couple episodes, you might want to jump back a few weeks because my husband and I announced that we are starting our own company. And the direct sell space called Restore Collective and in the spirit of transparency, which just happens to be the core value that we're going to chat about today. ~Uh,~ we wanted to roll out each one of the 12 core values that we chose for our company, because they're honestly so much more than words.
And so today's episode is going to be breaking down the three reasons why we chose the word transparency as one of our core values for Restore Collective. So let's dive into this week's episode.
[00:01:00]
So if you've listened to these episodes so far, you know that we have chosen a scripture from the Bible for each one of these core values that really represents why it's important to us and becomes kind of a foundational element of why we are [00:02:00] starting this company to begin with. So, This week's is Transparency, and so that is based in Ephesians 4.
25, which that chapter as a whole is just, there's so much goodness in there, especially from a business or a leadership perspective.~ And so,~ but~ Ephesians~ 4. 25 specifically says, Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one another. And so to me, I love this verse for several reasons.
One,~ um,~ if you are maybe an achiever or you are an overthinker, which I know a lot of us are,~ um,~ in entrepreneurship or in leadership, you might be tempted to not Share how you're feeling or being vulnerable with maybe the things that you're afraid of or maybe you don't really want to share how things are because of what somebody else might think or You might feel like you're the [00:03:00] only person who's thinking those things Well, the idea behind transparency is that by being truthful and honest about every decision that you make even if it's a hard decision even if it's going against what somebody else wants.
So maybe you're also a people pleaser. I know I can lean into that. It can be very easy to not be very clear. And I love that word clear as, as well. And Brene Brown says it best when she says clear is kind. And so to me, transparency is something that I know I have had to grow in because I would either keep things to myself, just putting on this like warm and happy face and pretending like everything's perfect.
And I'm obviously an optimist to a fault. But what I have found and that some of the most difficult challenges in leadership or in business, if I'm honest and just being truthful to whoever that might impact, it becomes a game changer in the way that the relational aspects can grow within that person and the trust that can build when someone [00:04:00] feels like,~ Oh, wait,~ I feel that same way.
Or I was kind of thinking the same thing. And so~ ~transparency can apply to a ton of different aspects for you as you build your network marketing business, wherever that is, whether that's with Restore or not. But essentially being clear is being kind and being truthful is always best because even if it's a decision that you know you're making the right move, but it might hurt or go against what someone else is thinking.
As long as you're transparently sharing the reasons behind it and being open to sharing that, more than likely people will understand. And what's cool is As you're getting to know someone or as you're building relationships and hopefully as we're building relationships with our field, which again, this, the cool thing about a podcast is these episodes live on.
So you might be listening to this episode a year or two or more down the road as a restore collective partner. And just being curious about how and why we chose this as a value. And so you might not know us as well, and you want to build that trust. And for us, that's why [00:05:00] transparency is important is being, you know, putting away that false.
So that's the reason number one that we wanted to share~ ~or choose this value and, of course, share it with all of you and invite you to be transparent with us. And that is because it is important to be honest. So what I mean by that is, the truth can sometimes hurt, so that's why sometimes we don't want to share the truth.
But when you are honest about your feelings~ or~ and you don't have to be too bold. I'm not trying to say that you need to share everything that's on your heart or that you need to go in public, you know, publicly or on social media and share all of the things. It's not like you have to share things. But when you have a decision or an important aspect of your business where you need to be truthful and being honest, It's always the best policy, right?
That's why they say honesty is always the best policy. And so that's one of the first reasons that we chose this is we're not going to lie to you, whether you're a restore partner or whether you are a listener, maybe a longtime [00:06:00] listener of my podcast. I, you guys know, I'm very transparent by nature. I love sharing my journey with you out loud, and I'm always going to be honest with you.
Even if that honesty is changing the way I feel about something or changing my heart towards something. And so I want you to know that when we start restore, we will be transparent and we will be honest about the reasons and the decisions that we make and the why behind what the choices that we're making.
And that's exactly what we hope to exemplify through this series is just us being honest with you. So that's the first reason is honesty is always the best policy. The second reason we chose this is one of my favorites and that is because We're essentially inviting all of you guys on this journey with us, and I think that that is what makes this so special.
To be honest, that's the beauty behind why we started this company to begin with, because when I had the first little inklings or that first seed that we talked about in the growth planted in my soul, that, Starting my own network marketing company was something that I could actually do, and that this [00:07:00] could actually work with the specific product that we had in mind.
I started to get discouraged and I honestly felt lonely when all of my uplines and my, my sideline sisters that I was kind of processing the sad news that I was facing with my current company, they all went and went a different direction that I didn't feel called to. And so I felt really, really lonely.
And it wasn't until I could share with my leaders and, you know, kind of share like the little inklings of that idea. And actually one of them said to me, we should just start our own company. And you guys, I burst into tears right there on the spot, because I realized in that moment that we're not doing this alone.
I could cry again, thinking about it. And in that moment, I realized that not only do I get to invite and include and link arms with some of. who've been the most special in my business. And I'm not just talking about on my downline, but just people that I have admired and respected and [00:08:00] watched grow as leaders right alongside myself to be able to come on this journey with us.
is one of the biggest blessings. And so I'm inviting them,~ uh,~ along the journey. And I'm also now officially inviting you and what I mean about that outside of just sharing transparently and being able to share our journey with, you know, throughout this whole process of founding the company. I would love to invite you specifically to be a part of the product development side.
So a lot of our products now are in the works in developing, but what's really cool is the products that we do, and we've already shared that it's all about the everyday essentials that active families use. And last week we announced that we are starting with makeup and skin care, because that's what Mama, who's usually the driving purchaser, that's what she uses and loves the most daily, we are.
makeup and skincare. And so we're starting there, but we're gonna have an ever expanding product line that fits within that category. And so we need your help both in the short term development, but also the longterm development to know what it is that you love [00:09:00] and to learn a little bit more about you as well.
And so I have created a survey that I'm calling my focus group survey, because essentially if you fill it out, you become a part of our focus group for Restore Collective, which is just the people that we want to seek help from. We want to seek your value. It's incredible data as we develop our compensation plan, as we kind of know what to expect when we hit the ground running in February.
And so I'm going to link in the show notes or in the description, if you're watching on YouTube, I'm going to drop a link to our focus group survey and it should only take a few minutes to fill out. And what's really cool is at the end. And it will link you to an eight minute or so over bit overview, less than 10 minutes that I'm going to continually update for you guys as things progress.
So I'm actually gonna be doing an update here possibly by the time this podcast even launches. But if not, then then shortly thereafter, and I'm also sending out emails. You know, by sending out the survey, you do opt into, you know, be able to, like, stay in touch on all the things you can always unsubscribe.[00:10:00]
I promise we're not gonna spam, but it's a way that we can share the updates along with you in a more regular ~ ~way through the email and through as soon as you fill out the survey, that little quick 8 to 10 minute video. And so I'm so excited to invite you guys on the journey. And that was when we decided to kind of roll this out on the podcast in the way, the transparency value was what I leaned on in doing that, because I know it seems like we should wait to announce it until we have the opportunity to enroll, or we have this big, fancy, shiny website, or we have everything all worked out when the product line.
But I know that for me, the magic in this business is not trying to do it all alone. And certainly I'm doing it with Roger and I know the Lord has been in it with me from day one. But I think what's going to make this so, so special is inviting you along the journey with us to give your feedback, your thoughts.
And that's something that we hope to do and we'll do. long after this company is launched. And so that's the number two reason is it allows us to invite you on the journey with us and be [00:11:00] transparent and vulnerable to show that we're working things out. And even when we do launch in February, it's probably going to be, there's going to be some things that are a hot mess, but we hope that it'll be worth it for you.
And you're going to be the ones to be able to help us make that, that pre launch in February, as successful it can be, and make sure we hit the mark on all of the things that you might want in a company like this. So that's the number two reason. And lastly, the number three reason is another little kind of hint on the products that we will offer.
And that is the transparency aspect is actually something we're bringing to our packaging that will house our makeup and our skincare. And not every component will do that, but what's really, really cool is most of our products will have a refillable element where you can kind of subscribe. Like if you know, you love it, you're going to have an outer kind of luxe, like gorgeous, in many cases, transparent case where you can then have refills of whatever the products that you use and love that go inside the So gone are the days of you having to [00:12:00] toss gorgeous packaging that you're like, Oh, I really don't want to throw this away.
You're not going to have to, you can recycle the inner component and everything we have will be sustainable and recyclable. And in most cases, a post consumer recycled~ ~material that is better for the environment. It's better for you. And it's something that is, it's going to be a more sustainable, a smarter option.
for your products. And it also allows us to have that really cool kind of transparency visual component, which of course is going to then tie back to our value, which will hopefully remind you. It reminds me every day when I look at the packaging that we're sourcing for this. And so transparency. That's the third reason is we're literally bringing this to the look and feel of our brand and our products.
And I believe it was Kristen boss. I need to go back and see what she said. But when I interviewed her not that long ago on the podcast and she was talking about her faith, she said that she said, We have a transparent, we're transparent about our faith on the outside, but~ we're~ we're solid on the inside.
And so that's stuck with me and resonated with me [00:13:00] in a big way. And again, factored into,~ uh, into~ this. That we're sharing with all of you. And so keep that in mind.~ Um,~ that the reasons that we chose the value of transparency is because number one, it's supposed to be transparent. the best thing ever for you to be honest, for us to be honest.
Honesty is always the best policy. Number two, we want to be able to invite you on this development journey with us and be transparent and vulnerable along the way. You know, I'm going to be honest. I have been, if you've been a long time listener of this podcast. And so being able to invite you on the journey of creating this company is really special.
And then lastly, the little tidbit of our refillable and in most cases transparent packaging that is going to be gorgeous. So special and I think I can kind of say this. It's kind of like the athleisure of beauty and skin care. So if that excites you as much as it excites me, it's kind of like the everyday, like, you know, Lululemon, like picture Lululemon before your face.
It's the stuff that's comfortable. It's what you want to wear every day. [00:14:00] And it might not be the thing that you're going to use for special occasions or, you know, that's going to be that kind of supplement that's more specific. for someone. But it's going to be those everyday essentials that you just want to use and love and wear every day.
And that refillable aspect is going to allow you to be able to do that in a really, really simple,~ um,~ and special way. So stay tuned for more specific product drops and little bits of goodies. And don't forget that next week I'm going to be announcing more about our founding partner mentors. And so there will be a question.
on the,~ uh,~ on the focus group survey.~ Um,~ that is specifically tied to your experience in network marketing.~ Um,~ and so that will be one of the little questions on there as well. So just kind of keep that in mind. Make sure to check out that link in the show notes or in the description to fill out that focus group survey to stay in the loop on all things related to Restore Collective.
So thank you guys for watching and listening. And I am so excited to continue this series and invite you on the journey of creating something [00:15:00] beautiful together. So let's say a prayer and we'll see you next week. Lord, thank you so much for those listening today. It just warms my heart when I get messages that the words that you give me through this and the inspiration that we know is from you is being able to serve people wherever they are in their journey, whether that's interested in Restore Collective as a business or whether they're just ~ ~seeking inspiration for something that you've called them to.
Lord, we ask that you equip them with the boldness to share how they feel, to speak the truth in love, to be honest, to be transparent and vulnerable and just share how they're feeling, knowing that that can build trust and relational equity in everything that they do. And it just feels good. And so I want people to know.
how special it is to be able to openly share, not everything, but the things that are right. And thank you for the opportunity and the blessing of being able to do that. And thank you for the inspiration and our products. And we pray that they can bless the [00:16:00] people that use them and bless the people that are, we are inviting on the journey in the development process of them.
And so thank you so much for everything you do for us, especially sitting your son, Jesus, and it's in his name. Amen. Alright guys, y'all have an amazing week. Bye!
