140 | Restore Collective Core Value: Abundance
===
[00:00:00] Hey friends. Welcome back to the call to lead podcast. So today's episode is an exciting one as it's continuing announcing the 12 core values for our brand new company Restore Collective. So you might be listening to this episode even years after we launched. And the cool part about this series is we are rolling out the why behind what it is that we're doing in sharing both the mission, the vision, and the 12 core values behind starting this new company that we know that we are committed to simplifying the lives of active families.
And so we're going to talk more about our number two value, which is abundance today in this episode. So let's dive in.
[00:01:00]
Alright. So in each of these episodes, we are breaking down the 12 core values, and the three reasons why we decided to choose this as a value of our business. So this isn't just pretty words. It's actually something that we believe. And every decision that we make and every thing that [00:02:00] we do together collectively as a family with restore is based around these values. And so all of these values are also based in scripture.
And so we have picked a specific scripture that is meant to reflect or best reflect in ~some kind of,~ sometimes there's more than one, but in most cases, there's one specific scripture that's referencing our big heart in what we are talking about. So today's word abundance is kind of an interesting one fun fact in a story that I'll tell you is. Years ago.
I selected abundance as my word of the year. I think it was maybe four or five years ago. And my husband like rolled his eyes and laughed at me. And so if you guys have met Roger. A few episodes back when we announced the rolling out of restore collective, or if you've experienced them in any way, you know, he tells it like it is.
And so I think this word kind of sometimes like can get a bad rap either because you're like, okay, Lord, bless me with abundance. And first of all, that is His, you know, his plan is he [00:03:00] wants to give you good things, but what we're asking for, isn't always ~what we,~ what he wants for us. Right. So abundance can look like. So much more than just money or financial blessings or getting what we want from God.
He's so much bigger than just some magic genie. So abundance can be used out of context, but really essentially what it means is just that it's in times where you have more than what you need. And it's just more than enough, I guess, as is the best way to describe it. And so the scripture that we chose for this is based in, and this is a really cool story too.
So it's based in Philippians 4:12-13 which says I know how to be brought low and I know how to abound. In any, and every circumstance I have learned that the secret of facing plenty and hunger. Abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. And so this of course is Paul, who [00:04:00] at one point was like a persecutor of Christians has been through some crazy hard things.
Like literally like shipwrecks his story's kind of like something out of pirates of the Caribbean. If you read the new Testament, it's pretty cool. But. It essentially, he's saying that he's experienced some hard times and some good times. And in both, the key is seeking after the Lord. So I think this. ~Uh, ~among with some other options.
But, ~um,~ I think this is a really great example of what abundance is. So it's plenty and hunger, abundance, and need. So abundance is essentially plenty and having more than what you need. And so we aren't always promised because obviously Paul is one of the biggest missionaries that has ever lived on this earth, and yet he still experienced both need and hunger.
So we're not promised that the Lord is going to give us everything we want and that if we just, you know, manifest it or, you know, wish for it or ask for it. That's not, that's not what the Lord is saying. And that's not what we're saying when we're talking about this abundance first. [00:05:00] That will be our saying is that there is enough to go around, especially if you seek after the Lord.
So I'm going to share specifically the three reasons we chose it. But another cool story about this is I talked last week. Our first core value that we talked about is biblical wisdom. And what's wild is as I was deciding which of the next core values to roll out on today's podcast. I was so excited when I saw that the scripture that we had chosen for abundance was just a few verses down from the scripture that was today's Bible verse in the Bible app that I was talking about last week.
And so I encourage you again, whether you are a believer like me or a seeker, maybe go read, all of Philippians four, cause I'm telling you there's some good stuff and it hit me today. And so, you know, kind of specific to all of this is the verse of the day, which is 4:6, which is, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving, Let [00:06:00] your requests be made known to God. And so we talked about asking the Lord for, you know, for specific clarity and things like that.
We've been talking about that a lot on this podcast. And if you haven't heard some of my episodes on that, you can go back and look, but I love these verses together. And I love the confirmation that once again, the Lord is showing me through his word. That this is all working together. So.~ All right. ~
Let's dive into the three reasons that we chose it. And this is kind of tied to that scripture that I've just shared Philippians 4:6, which is talking about anxiety and anxiousness. And I know that in this business of network marketing and direct sales, that's something that we experience a lot is that kind of anxiousness or that fear, which almost always is tied to the opposite of abundance, which is scarcity. And so the first reason, let me grab my notes here.
The first reason that we decided to choose this. Is because we believe that there is [00:07:00] enough to go around. So if the opposite of abundance is scarcity, that mindset leaves you feeling like there's not enough for you. There's not enough customers out there. Maybe you have, you know, decided that you want to be all in with Restore, but maybe you have other friends who are all in at another company. Uh, and you're feeling like, oh, my whole team has already moved on.
Or maybe you're like me and that your uplines or your mentors in the company that you've been a part of are pursuing a different path that you don't feel called to. It doesn't mean that it's not a good path or that it's not the right path for them, but it just doesn't feel like your path. And so you're kind of left feeling like, well, okay, if I don't have a mentor and if some of my team. Or maybe a lot of my team has gone with them, you know, is there enough for me?
Is there enough to go around and so abundance in the way that we want to implement into our company it says, yes, there is plenty to go around because. Who [00:08:00] is the provider of all good things. If you read in at further in that Phillipians passage in Philippians four. Then you'll see that anything that's noble and true and pure it's all from the Lord.
And so when you have true relationships, when you have. You know, anything that comes in to your life financially or inspiration wise, it's all from him. And again, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. And so if it is from him and he's going to equip you and he's going to provide for you, then I can promise you there is enough to go around. And so if you're feeling worried about what your friends are doing or your other teammates, don't worry about that.
Look to the Lord, to guide you on your purposeful path. And again, go back and listen to some of the episodes that I've shared on my podcast. If you ~need, ~need help, discerning what that is, because only he can tell you. And if you're a parent of teenagers, like I am and like, Uh, Roger is my husband. Then, you know that it's, [00:09:00] sometimes it's not always best to follow what your friends are doing or follow the path.
It's best to look to the Lord and realize that if this, if it's restore or if it's another opportunity or endeavor, whatever that might be, that if it's for you, that he will equip you and he will give you and supply everything you need. Especially if you ask him. So that's the reason number one that we chose it is there is enough to go around my friends.
That's in the beauty space, that's in the skincare space. That's in whatever space that you or your company as a part of in network marketing or direct sales. And so I just want you to feel that I want you to rest in that, that there's plenty to go around. Plenty of customers, plenty of ideas. Plenty of all of the things.
Okay. So the number two reason that we chose this is based in a quote that one of my dear friends in business, Emily McCarthy. So she's not in network marketing or direct sales, but she is a fashion designer that actually designed my very first logo for my boutique or, [00:10:00] well, maybe not my first logo, but she designed multiple logos for my business along the way.
And then after kind of getting her start in graphic design, she moved into gifting and then moved into apparel. Then decided to create her own line. And now she's in, I think like four or 500, ~uh, ~locations across the country. And she also just opened a brand new flagship location in Savannah where I am based.
And so I share her story because she's an inspiring entrepreneur that you should definitely look into. But one of my favorite quotes is tied to this abundance mindset and it's from her beautiful grandmother, Lillian. And that is "What's for you won't pass you by." and my friends, I love this quote so much because it can be so scary feeling like you have are missing out on something or that you've got FOMO or that there's something else that you should be doing, or is this the right thing for me?
And I'm telling you that even if this quote itself isn't scripturally based. I mean, certainly there are [00:11:00] examples of how this works in scripture, but it's not technically scripture that we do love dear Lillian. It's a beautiful quote because I've seen it to be true in my life. And I bet if you look at your life in business and in all the other facets, You've seen it to be true in yours, which is if it's for you. Meaning, if it's God's plan for you, if this is going to benefit and bless you and your family in some way, it's not going to pass you by, it's not.
And so if you're listening to this podcast, it's probably for a purpose. And I was chatting with another friend who actually may or may not do this. So I shouldn't say she's,~ you know, not in, uh, a partner,~ a part of this, she's just a dear friend. Who's an amazing leader who does have some great experience in direct sales.
But we were talking about, you know, that, that analogy of when you're in something, and you're not sure if you're supposed to stay in it and you're looking to the Lord to send you like a rescue thing. You're like, Lord saved me from this. Right. And he sends like open door after open door and that, ~that, um,~ the story, which I'm [00:12:00] really bad at stories, but it's like he sends a helicopter and he sends a boat.
~Um,~ and you know, you just kind of keep waiting on the next thing. Well, my friends, how many open doors and whether that's again, Restore or another opportunity have been open to you. And you've either been too scared or maybe you've leaned into the first thing we talked about, which is a fear or a scarcity mindset that you don't have enough of something you don't have enough. Uh, personality or you don't have enough friends or you don't have enough of a following to be able to do it, but I'm telling you if you lean into the fact that if this is for you or anything in your life is for you. It will not pass you by, it's going to kind of keep like, dangling that little, you know, that little, little thought. ~Um, ~that's bubbles up in your spirit and in your heart. And that's how you'll know.
And so to me, that's a part of the abundance is knowing that God has a plan and it is good for you. And if you just are open to what that is, and [00:13:00] you realize that it's not like you're going to have to go chase this thing down, whatever it is that you're looking for, it could be right in front of you.
And it could be the best thing that ever happened for you. So that's the number two reason is tied to my dear friend. Emily's grandmother, Lillian, and that's "What's for you won't pass you by." So then the third and final reason we chose this is we know if you are seeking abundance, whether that is abundance of blessing in your life.
And again, whether that's financial or friendships or, you know, community, or just a way to find a fulfilling some, you know, job for you, basically a way for you to make an income and an impact on your world. Then the best way to do that, the key to doing it is relying on him because all good things, including all abundance is. From him.
And so I just want to redirect you back to the initial scripture for this, and I'm going to pull it up so I don't get it. Get it wrong. But, [00:14:00] um, again, We're. We're going to go back to the scripture. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any, and every circumstance I have learned the secret of facing plenty. And hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. So my friends, if you're listening to this and you are scared or anxious, I invite you to lean into what the Lord says is that number one he's for you. Number two, I'll get things are from him and you should focus on that and shift your perspective into those good things.
And then if you're feeling anxious, bring those specific requests to him as Philippians 4:6 says. And he can give you every bit of strength and everything you need to do. All the things that he's called you to do. And what's for you, won't pass you by my friends. So I'm gonna wrap up this week's episode with a prayer for all of you guys.
And I hope that this is helpful in giving you a peek [00:15:00] behind the lens of why we are starting restore and what we are all about as a company. So. Lord. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share. At some beautiful words from your servant, Paul through scripture. And we talked last week about how important it is to stay in scripture and the ways that you can show us your will and your way through your words.
And today is another beautiful example of how you've done, just that. And so we're so thankful for the wisdom that you have given to us. And we're thankful for the ways that you continue to clarify that not just for us that are on the journey in Restore, but for whatever path that. That those listening are on themselves, that you are for them.
You have a plan for them, and if they let all anxiousness and all scarcity. And fear go away. That if they trust you that you are the supplier of all things, and if they ask you for those things, even if it might not be a yes, always that if it [00:16:00] is for them, it will pass them by. And so Lord, we just ask that you bless those that are listening.
We ask that you guide them in any endeavor. We let them focus on the good and the goodness and all of the blessings and examples of how you have given them abundance in the past, even if that's not in the way that our world tells them. And so just help us to focus on that abundance mindset and believe that you are enough and that you will give us everything that we need, especially if we just ask you.
So, and in Jesus' name, Amen. All right, guys. Thank you so much for listening. I hope you all have a beautiful week. Bye. [00:17:00]
