5 Ways to Bring the FUN back in your business!
===
[00:00:00] Hey friends, welcome back to the Called to Lead podcast. So I'm excited about today's episode because we are going to be bringing the fun back into your business. So I've been chatting about some kind of heavy stuff lately, and I think it's time, especially as we head into summer. And if you're a mama like me and you're spending more time with your kids and you're kind of enjoying the fun and the sun and you still want to work your business and you still want to be able to grow your business, or maybe you're even feeling a little bit burned out or like your business is going backwards.
And you're like, oh, It was so fun at the beginning. How can I tap back into that and how can I make this more fun? Well, I'm going to be sharing five practical ways in this episode that you can bring the fun back into your business and grow your business in the process. So let's dive into this episode.
Okay. So in the name of keeping this fun and trying to make the summer about your family, I'm going to try to keep this episode short and sweet. We'll see how that [00:01:00] goes, but let's dive right in. To the five different ways that you can bring the fun back into your business. So the first way, and I know this can kind of seem scary, but honestly, let's be real.
If you've ever been to a music Mitt park, like Disney or universal or something like that, you'll know that this is true. A lot of times when you try something new or scary, It can be fun when you actually figure it out when you do it. And you're like, okay, I didn't die. I feel like I can do this again.
And so my first number one way that you can bring fun back in your business is to figure out a new strategy or something exciting that you can learn to do in your business. So you, if you're feeling kind of burned out or maybe stuck in a rut, it might be because you've been doing the same thing over and over and over again.
Maybe that's on social media or maybe it's been primarily in person. Or parties, or, you know, maybe just sharing in your beauty group and you feel like the same [00:02:00] five people are commenting all, all the time. If you're doing the same exact theme over and over and over again, first of all, that's consistency.
And that is a really good thing. And it's definitely a skill set that you should learn, but every once in a while, it's nice to switch it up and to kind of inject a little level of something excitement, exciting. And what's cool is if you still stay kind of consistent in the other areas, this can bring new and fresh energy into your business and whatever this new thing is, whether that's maybe. Tackling something like learning reels on Instagram, just to kind of see if you can do it right.
Or like, I know Jackie Richards did a 30 day real challenge a couple of months ago, and it was so fun for people to get out of their head, to stop thinking about what they're going to post and just post a silly something. But what they did is they learned in the process, they learned how to do it. They got more comfortable with the process.
So that. After they got done with that kind of like, okay, let's just bust it out. Then they could really focus on providing value. And again, it's kinda like a bootcamp, right? It's like, it's just, it's a [00:03:00] little bit fun. Same thing with going live. You guys going live is so scary. I know for a lot of people, but if you just put yourself out there and if you're scared, you can say you're scared, but that's a perfect example of like going down that rollercoaster thing.
And if you haven't tried going live and I'm not just talking about in your, in your VIP group for a small group of people, I'm talking about, like just hit the dang live button on your regular feed. And just as, as you're getting ready, ~um,~ you know, if you are with a skincare company, maybe you're like going live and showing. ~Um, ~your routine, you guys, this is how I essentially launched my business was going, hitting that live button, getting ready for church. And just saying like, Hey, a couple of you guys have asked how this makeup works. And I'm just going to hop on and show you how to do it.
Even though this feels really weird. And I'm sure my husband's going to come out in a minute and be like, what are you doing? Which is exactly what happened. But I'm so glad that I did that and it kind of steps outside my comfort zone to try something new. I had never done it at the time. Because it's kinda crazy because I have [00:04:00] multiple artists and leaders on my team that watched that very first live.
And even if they didn't join right away, they were like, oh, look. I go, okay. If she could do this, like maybe I can do this. And so going live is another great way to do it. If you aren't already doing in-person demos of whatever product it is that you offer. Like for me and makeup company, it's so great because I can literally help a woman feel beautiful right there on the spot.
Not in a long time, it takes like I'm able really to makeup is like less than 10 minutes, but you know, it can be like 30 minutes. Two an hour. ~Um, ~of your time to get together, maybe while your kids are playing. ~Um, ~you know, having a little fun play date, or you go to coffee that you guys have done these little makers in Mexican restaurants and coffee shops, seriously, like just get together, focus on some in-person things.
If that's not something that you've done before, because. That could be that spark, that reignites your passion, your, your love to see that like, okay, [00:05:00] I love this product, but wow. Like being face-to-face with someone who also loves it. Like that can be that interest in spark. And you might be a little scared to do these in-person things where you might feel like I don't have all of the things, or I don't have the right setup girl work with what you've got, because again, they, if they decide to do this business with you, which about 10% of people naturally are going to be thinking as you're connecting with them, like, Hey gosh, maybe I could do this too. And the more simple and, you know, kind of relatable that you can make it the more they're going to feel like they can do it too.
And so don't worry about having all the things, if you're coming off as some pro or an expert that can actually hinder. That from making them feel like they can do it too. So you do not have to be a pro. You don't have to be an expert and it's certainly well worth your time to try at spinning. An hour or so doing an in-person demo on your product.
So those are just a couple of examples. The, you know, get creative, look around and see what's working for other people. [00:06:00] We am hearing a ton of people are having success with popups and doing like fun vendor events and things like that. So that's another example of something you've never tried it before.
Give it a shot. I can also link to a, an episode. I did a while back with my top 10 tips for in person. If you guys want to check that out as well. So that's my number one. ~Uh, ~way that you can bring the fun back in your business is try something new. And if it's something that does require consistency, commit to it for the next 30 to 90 days, and just see what happens in your business. If it's not something that brings you joy or that you don't love it, like you don't have to do it, or if it doesn't bring results after that long. Then girl, it doesn't have to be for you, but why not give something a shot, try something new and see what it can do to your business and bringing the fun back to the business by. I just injecting something new and exciting. So that's the reason number one, number two is kind of similar in that.
Why don't you try a new hobby? In your wife, like [00:07:00] taking up pickle ball or golf or Bunco, or like, you know, something fun like that. Yoga, maybe going to yoga because what this is going to do is first of all, it's going to take the focus. If you're feeling burned out, you might be spending too much time on trying to, you know, serve your kids, serve your family, serve your business, and you're getting left out.
And I can tell you I've been there a couple of years ago. That's when I was like, okay, I've got to find something for me. So I took up golf actually was going to yoga at the time. Now I do Pilates. Like one-on-one. That both of those were great ways for me to meet new connections, build new relationships and friendships because naturally, what are people going to do?
They're going to ask you like, Hey, what do you do? Because that, what we would do is we would go to the yoga class and I now, well, that's the whole other thing. I did a YouTube video on why I like Pilates better than yoga for a lot of reasons. So maybe I'll link to that. ~Um, ~and if you want to hear my journey of why I don't go to yoga anymore, but what I did love about the yoga like community was we would go after the classes. To a coffee [00:08:00] shop and we would just chit chat.
Right. And naturally things would come up. And, you know, people would ask like what your businesses, which of course you should share that you're a network marketer and what ever company, or really, what I like to say is I help women simplify their makeup routine. Right. ~Um, ~and build a business of their dreams. And so, whatever it is, it you help other people do with your product.
You can share that with them, build those relationships of trust and just see where it goes. But what's cool is you're kind of killing two birds with one stone. By adding this hobby one, you're doing something that's serving you so that you can fill your cup to be able to go fill an other's cups from your customers, to your teams.
All of that is going to be beneficial, but you're also building relationships and connections with people that you didn't even know yesterday that can help connect you and build. And. And grow your business like that because you guys, you do not have to build, I will say this, like over and over again, your business is built on one happy customer at a time.
You do not have to build some massive following or have tons of followers. You just have to build [00:09:00] meaningful relationships and connections. And I'm not talking about the achiness of like doing it only so that you can get something from them. You guys, my golf buddies, like neither one of them. I play golf with them. ~Uh, ~weekly just about, and like neither of them have ever bought the product for me.
Like I could see them in the future. Maybe, maybe doing it and guess what? ~Um, ~actually my next step that I'll tell you, like is a perfect example of how you can kind of take it to the next, next step. So don't do it from the expectation of what you're going to get from them, but know that you are building a foundation of connections and relationships with the people that you meet in this.
And that is both fulfilling. It's fun. And it can help grow your business. So the third way is kind of piggybacked on top of that. And that's exactly what I plan to do with, for example, my two golf buddies is do a little get together in person. It does not have to be like something crazy. Like just kind of like a little fun in person gathering.
I've done this, like at least once, if not twice a year. And it's just like a fun little girl's night out at [00:10:00] my house where people can bring, like I've done it in the summer where the kids can like hop in the pool and then the moms are inside. Cause a lot of my. My friends have like older kids, so it's not like we have to like, sit there. You know, they're not toddlers sitting there watching. ~Um, ~and you can have your product out on display.
I have teamed up with, like, I had a friend who's a scout and cellar rep to where she brought the wine. I had another friend who did like a pop-up,~ um,~ pop-up like a sports where, you know, kind of the kind of company and it was just a fun way for people to get together. And again, it's no pressure.
They don't have to buy anything. It's just a fun gathering of girlfriends. But what always happens inevitably, is people want to try it and they want to kind of see they're like, oh, what is this? And they can learn more about. Got it. And it's your opportunity to kind of combine that aspect of fun with sharing about your business.
And it gives what we call a third-party tool for you to invite them to meaning like it can be, it would be really awkward for me to say like, Hey Megan and Beth, like my golfing buddies, like. Do you guys want to buy [00:11:00] this makeup for me? Or can I like put this makeup on your face? Like probably not going to do that, but what I can do is I can say, Hey, Megan and Beth, I'm having a little girls night out at my house next Thursday.
Would you want to come and just have some wine? I'm going to be showing a little bit of like the makeup. Cause I know I've had some of my friends ask how it works.~ Um, ~you're welcome to try it. No pressure, but, ~um,~ I just would love to invite you and see you and we can get together and have some fun.
Would you want to come to that? And again, they're probably gonna be like, oh yeah, I don't really have anything going on that week. Sure. Let's do it. And so having that fun get together gathering is a great way for you to showcase your product, whatever it looks like. You can also do it. Like I know I read in Brett Blake's renewal book, which I've been talking a lot about that Monet did these like meet Monet gatherings at like. You know, restaurants and like Mexican restaurants and things like that too.
So it doesn't even have to be like in your home, you can just get together with girlfriends because whatever it is, you might not have a highly demonstrably. Is that the [00:12:00] word demonstrable product, it might be something that, you know, maybe you're with a travel company or something that is more of like a service based.
And so just getting together and going out and like chatting about whatever that looks like can be a really fun way to build your business. So number three, get together with your girlfriends, these connections that you've made. Maybe from your hobbies, your neighbors, and just like sprinkle in a little bit of what it is that you do into the mix, and you'll have fun and build your business in the process. So let's dive into number four.
And so this is going to be specific to a, kind of a similar idea of like getting together people. But this is going to be other people from within your company or from within your team. And so what's cool is like, say you do like a meat, like a meat Seint event or something like that. And or you do a gathering with your team locally where like I have a leader, Lauren Verlander, I've interviewed her on the podcast as well before.
So I can link to that episode and share her story. But she does these monthly [00:13:00] lunches or sometimes coffees depending on what's what's happening, where she invites any of her directs. And occasionally they'll bring like someone who's maybe new. ~Um, ~that has joined their team are interested about it. And so the cool part is, is if, if you have people who are connected and they're showing up to these fun little pop-up events that you're doing. And then you can invite them to be accountability partners.
And so that's the fourth step is to become accountability partners. And do like a fun challenge together. With a handful of people from within your company. So again, if you've maybe been to a retreat or your company's conference, or you've been to one of these things, and you've met people that you're like, I kind of like her and I feel like it would be really fun to have a running buddy.
It's so much better to do this business together because you're going to keep each other accountable. You're going to have ideas that you're going to share. You're going to be able to share wins and maybe challenges. You're going to feel a deeper sense of connection, which is the most fun part about this business.
And so see if you can find, [00:14:00] and this, you know, you can ask her app line if she can kind of connect you with people too, but. Think about people that you see, maybe they're on social media and they have a similar sized following to you. Maybe they're in your town and it can take something to feel like, oh, she's my competitor.
But I guarantee you, like, if you actually connect with them and you work together, you can have so much more fun. And that community over competition competition, culture is something that will serve you so well. And having an abundance mindset and who knows she could become like your new bestie. Which can bring the fun into your business.
So find accountability partners from within your sideline sisters, from within your larger team or from within your company, you can even do it with your downline. If you want to, to. And if you can come up with something that you can learn together, like maybe it is, it's like let's do one in person make over a week or our team is getting ready to come out with a fun content calendar.
That's going to equip people for all June long to be able to work their business. And what's cool is [00:15:00] you can then, ~um, ~You can basically like invite people, your accountability group to do that with you. And so this is a perfect time that you can kind of group together, build relationships and connections that will last even beyond your business.
Right. And hopefully we'll all be together in the same company. But the reality is, is this is a relational business and. Building those relationships is the best part. And when you find the right people. Especially when there's no pressure tied because you're not like, you know, their success. Isn't something that you're benefiting from, but you're benefiting from it by working together.
It's a beautiful and fun way to do this business. So that's the fourth way is to find a small accountability kind of running group. If you will. To take on some of these actions and try some new things together in the season. And then lastly, but not,~ uh,~ not least. I challenge you guys to think about what is your favorite products that you have?
What is something that like literally gets you excited? Like for us, it might be an eye shadow color, or [00:16:00] a lip and cheek that you just can't get enough of. Or I'm a perfect example of this is I looked at my best performing YouTube video on my channel. And I was like, what is it about that video? That's made it perform so much better consistently than pretty much all the other, like a hundred or however many that have done at this point on the, on the channel. And I went and looked and ding, ding, ding it's because we had just come out with a new shade Athens.
That was my most perfect shade ever. And I was literally so excited. So the energy that the people watching the video could see was like, oh my gosh, you guys, I'm so excited. I've been, you know, an artist for six years and I just found my perfect color and here look how magical it is. Let me show you how easy this is. And people could feel that excitement, they could feel that genuine energy.
And it wasn't me trying to like sell them on something. It was me just sharing the thing that I'm already like really excited about. So I guarantee you, there might be something, there is something I'm certain or else, if there's nothing that [00:17:00] you're excited about in your product line, then maybe, maybe you do need to consider something else because you've got to have a passion for the product to be the foundation of your business.
For sure. ~Um, ~and for me, I mean, I can think of many, many options with different colors, ~um,~ different, different brushes, whatever it is, if it's something new that your company has come out with, that's great, but you can find something existing from within your product line. I promise you that you actually get excited about and then show up, go live, create that real, you know, if you're on YouTube, do a YouTube video, whatever it looks like.
Just focus on that. And honestly, that might be in fact, Hmm. I'm always looking for ideas for my YouTube channel. Maybe that's what I'll do this summer is just pick like my top 10 favorite products from our company. And it kind of just do a demo. Like, and I could even make them kind of short and sweet again, because in the summer we're busy with our kids are watching from the pool, things like that.
So see, hopefully this is giving you inspiration and ideas. And when you can bring that energy, when you can bring the fun or, ~uh, ~Leanne ref [00:18:00] is someone that I hope to have on the podcast really soon. And she's actually doing a training at T my trading for our team tonight, which if you're on our team, hopefully you will have seen it by the time this episode airs, because it will be like next week.
But anyways, she. ~Um, ~one of her like kind of things she talks about is having mojo. ~Um, ~which is just like excitement and energy and finding ways to bring that back. So she actually has a new podcast that I will link as well, where she talks about a lot of these things as well. So. I am so excited to really, it feels good for me to even like talk about some of this fun stuff.
Cause like I said, I feel like we've been talking about some heavy stuff here lately on the podcast. So maybe this was refreshing and inspiring for you. It definitely has been for me. And again, if you're a believer like me, look to the Lord for these inspiration and ideas, you guys, I'm not kidding.
Like I said, right before I hit film on this. ~Uh, ~on this podcast, I sent my amazing assistant Jess. I was like, okay, I'm getting ready to record next week's podcast. Cause she's going on vacation. And we needed to like bust it out, like before she leaves to go on [00:19:00] vacation. And so I knew I had a deadline to operate better on under deadlines, but I was like, I literally have no idea what I'm going to talk about next week's episode.
And I was like, will you say a prayer quick prayer for me that I can like get the inspiration and you guys, I'm not even getting. This podcast episode with these ideas, it came to me in two minutes. I sent her that at 10:00 AM on the dot. At 10 0 3, I wrote back and said, okay, I got it. Five ways to bring fun back in your business. So if you just look to the Lord, if you say that quick prayer, like, Lord, what is it?
What is this new fun thing? You want me to try my business? He'll tell you he'll put it. And if it's scary, if you're like, oh no, I don't please. Not that that's your sign to give it a shot, because that is where, like how our kids don't want to go on the rollercoaster until they go, and then they want to do it over and over and over again. What if this new thing for you is that. Or what if it's this new hobby that you've been thinking about and wanting to try and wanting to like make time for w w make time for what matters and the things that bring you joy and spark interests like hobbies.
Like I said, I can also build your business [00:20:00] and connections. ~Um, ~get together with your girlfriends, both the relationships that you make from outside your business and sprinkle in your product and your opportunity. And then same thing goes with your actual team. Bring in that energy into an accountability group and tackle these fun, new things together.
And then lastly, focus on what you love, like what you truly love and what you get excited about. In your business and share the heck out of that. And I challenge all of you and myself to do that this summer. So I hope this episode was helpful for you and yay. About 20 minutes in. That's short for me.
So we're going to call this done and I hope you guys have a beautiful week and I will see all soon. Bye. [00:21:00]
